One Small Fish
I am often overwhelmed by my own inadequacy to do what I need to do... be a good friend/daughter/sister, love my husband well, offer helpful advice to Congolese translators, live in Africa in a way that is healthy and helpful (and not hurtful), honor God. A wise friend once told me to think about the story where Jesus had his disciples bring him their bread and fish, and he multiplied it until there was enough for thousands (Matthew 14:13-21). She said, "Even if all you think you've got is a crumb of bread or just one puny sardine - and it ain't too fresh - offer it to God anyway. And see what He does with it." My job is to be faithful to offer Him what I've got, even if it's just one small fish.

Dear Douglas & Jennings, What a wonderful illustration of how we are to make ourselves available to be used of God for His purposes. Thanks so much for the encouragement and for the blog you've started. You've inspired Debi and I to start blogging as well. We love you guys and cherish your friendship. Dave and Debi E
